Eligibility Criteria for RRB JE Recruitment

Educational Qualification

• Junior Engineer (JE): Requires a 3-year Diploma in Engineering, a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant streams (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc.), or a 3-year B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): Requires a 3-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized institute.
• Candidates awaiting final examination results as of the closing date (13.09.2026) are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit (As on 01.01.2027)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 33 years

Upper Age Relaxation:

• SC / ST: 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
• PwBD: 10 to 15 years (depending on category)
• Ex-Servicemen: As per prescribed government rules

Application Fee for RRB JE Recruitment

• UR / OBC / EWS Candidates: ₹500 (An amount of ₹400 will be refunded, duly deducting bank charges, upon appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC Candidates: ₹250 (The full fee of ₹250 will be refunded, duly deducting bank charges, upon appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).

Selection Process for RRB JE Recruitment

The recruitment process consists of four distinct stages:

1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I): Screening test comprising 100 objective-type questions (Mathematics, Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science) with a duration of 90 minutes.
2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II): Technical examination comprising 150 questions covering core technical abilities, computer basics, environment, physics, chemistry, and general awareness.
3. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates based on CBT-II merit index are called for verification of original documents.
4. Medical Examination (ME): Passing the prescribed medical fitness standards (such as A-3, B-1, or C-1 visual standards) conducted by Railway authorities.

Note: There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every incorrect answer in both CBT stages.
