West Bengal Rupashree Scheme: Financial Support for Girl Child Marriage

The Rupashree Prakalpa is an important scheme of the West Bengal government where one-time economic assistance is given. This assistance is provided for the marriage of a girl child so that the pressure on the family remains less. The aim is to reduce the burden on poor families at the time of their daughter’s marriage.

Another objective of this scheme is that families delay marriage, because this help is given only after 18 years. So that families think about their daughter’s marriage only after the legal age of marriage. The application process of this scheme is offline through the BDO or the municipality.
